We now have a survey tool that will allow organisational management to assess how well they are doing with information management, compared to a wide range of other organisations.  This can be combined with more detailed analysis of the situation on a project-by-project or system-by-system basis, and works best when a range of interested persons (business managers, IT managers, staff at all levels) can be invited to become involved.

A typical overall result for a mixed survey within a single organisation might look like this (but it is of course the detail that proves most interesting in terms of revealing what needs to be done to make things better - look at the "senior manager" insert):
